Pirates Close Fall Season At Charleston Invitational
November 13, 2016 | Men's Tennis
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sophomore James Ling was the only Pirate to win his singles flight as the East Carolina men's tennis team concluded its 2016 fall season at the College of Charleston Invitational.
"This was a great event for us to end the fall with," Head Coach Shawn Heinchon said. We had some mixed results for the weekend, but played a lot of quality matches. It was a great gauge for what we need to improve on before we get into our spring dual match season."
Ling earned a pair of victories in flight No. 4 of the singles draw, including a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, triumph over Georgia Southern's Artemie Amari on Friday, Nov. 11, before outlasting the host team's Jake Kusmider, 6-3, 6-1, the following day. He also teamed up with senior Fredric Lehfeldt for a 1-1 record in doubles play.
Ling concludes the fall campaign tied with sophomore Vlad Anghel with a team-best 6-3 singles mark.Â
East Carolina will begin its 2017 dual match season at home on Friday, Jan. 20 at 2:30 p.m., against N.C. Central.
