
Baseball Rosters Set For Purple-Gold World Series

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina baseball team will conclude its fall practice this weekend with its annual Purple-Gold World Series at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium starting Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. (ET).
The Pirates, who began team practice on Sept. 29, will play the first of three intra-squad scrimmages starting Nov. 4 at 6 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. before concluding the annual event on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all Pirate fans for the weekend series.
Prior to the Purple-Gold Draft, which was held Monday, third-year head coach Cliff Godwin named Travis Watkins and Charlie Yorgen co-head coaches for the Purple squad, while Parker Lamm and Eric Tyler will co-skipper the Gold squad.Senior lefthanders Evan Kruczynski
(Gold) and Jacob Wolfe (Purple) will toe the rubber in game one, followed by sophomore righty Sam Lanier (Gold) and redshirt junior right-hander Davis Kirkpatrick (Purple) on Saturday. The final game of the series will pit a pair of right-handed freshmen in Tyler Smith (Gold) against Trey Benton (Purple).
Godwin, who will serve as the commissioner, has indicated that Gold will be the home team for Games 1 and 3 and will occupy the third base dugout.
Saturday is also ECU's Fall "Meet the Pirates" Event where fans will get a chance to meet the 2017 Pirates up close and personal. Fans in attendance will receive a commemorative 2016 Charlottesville Regional Champions poster as part of the autograph session, which will be held inside the first and third base dugouts following the scrimmage.
Fans will have a chance to tour the facilities at Clark-LeClair Stadium beginning at 1 p.m., and after the scrimmage, kids in attendance will have a chance to run the bases.
