What’s New For ECU Football Gameday In 2016
August 30, 2016 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. - As East Carolina turns the page to another football season, the athletics department is excited to announce its newest additions to enhance the gameday experience for fans in 2016:
1. Pirate Walk – Fans are encouraged to meet the football team two-and-a-half hours prior to kickoff at Gate 5. The Pirates, along with the pep band and cheerleaders, will walk between Minges Coliseum and the Murphy Center to the front of the Ward Sports Medicine Building.
2. US Cellular, the official wireless sponsor for East Carolina Athletics, has been added to the Distributed Antenna System (DAS), which was put in last year in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Pirate fans that have cellular service through US Cellular and Verizon will now have more coverage to make wireless calls, texts and picture messages sent by Pirate fans on gameday, but this is NOT a WiFi system.
3. Twitter, Instagram and Facebook posts (pictures, tweets and videos) can now be pulled and posted on the football video board during the game by using #ECUGameday. ECU Athletics encourages fans to post appropriate pictures of their tailgating and game experiences, or selfies to their accounts using #ECUGameday, so we can share their experiences with the rest of Pirate Nation.
4. New signage installed – Along the north side of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Pirate fans will notice new signage that recognizes the history of excellence for ECU football. Displayed are First-Team All-America recipients, total bowl appearances and total conference championships.
5. Special post-game access to Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium when groups purchase 250 tickets or more. The first group to purchase 250 or more group tickets for each game (NC State contest not included) will be given exclusive post-game access on the field. This opportunity is available on a first come first serve basis. For additional details on this opportunity, as well as other group ticket questions, please contact Brad Drummond at (252) 737-5271.
6. New look for game programs – This year's game programs will feature a new look including more photos, additional player profiles and an easy to follow depth chart. Each program will include a 3-D card of a Pirate player with first-year head coach Scottie Montgomery slated for the first issue in the season opener. Pirate fans can pick up their copies of the 2016 Game Program for $10 (cash or credit card) from the ARMY ROTC Cadets in and around Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
7. Dowdy Student Stores will open an adidas exclusive store inside Gate 2 of Minges Coliseum, which will open three hours prior and closing 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
