Krznaric and Gaffney Named December Student-Athletes Of The Month

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Senior Fran Krznaric of the swimming and diving program and graduate forward Kristen Gaffney of the women's basketball team have been selected the male and female Student-Athletes of the Month following an outstanding December athletically.

Krznaric competed in the FINA World Championships in Windsor, Canada and placed 30th in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a time of 1:59.06. He currently holds Croatia's fastest 200 IM time.

Gaffney averaged 9.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in six outings in December, scoring in double figures three times. She netted 26 points on 12 made field goals against William and Mary Dec. 28 after notching 21 points in the 71-60 victory at Richmond Dec. 17. Gaffney ended the month with a 16-point performance against Tulane (Dec. 31).

The swimming and diving teams close out their home schedule with a dual meet against UMBC Jan. 21 while the women's basketball team is back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in an American Athletic Conference matchup against UCF at Minges Coliseum.
