Donnenwirth's Thoughts
"I thought overall it was a game of who finished their chances. We outshot them in the game, we hit the post, we had a breakaway and I thought our game plan was good. Our girls really worked hard and battled. The first goal was disappointing and it was something we watched on video and it was just one split second and it's in the back of the net. The second goal came after one of our player's injuries and it felt like we were just let down there for a second. But besides those two goals I felt like we created some good chances and I thought we just missed connecting on a few passes. Especially in the first half when we did have a couple of counter opportunities. They played a little bit deeper in the second half not letting us get behind them and I still feel like we created some good chances for ourselves. I told them before the game this was going to be one of those 50-50 type games and whoever wins the important moments is probably going to win the game. And give them credit they finished two good goals.
Â
This is a special group [of seniors] and I said to them before the game, they are great soccer players, they have a 3.51 combined grade point average, they've probably put in more community service hours than any class before them and on top of that they are awesome people. For me, this is a special group of kids and they are going to do great things when they leave here."
