GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior RHP Lydia Ritchie has been named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement by the league Monday. It is the first time a Pirate pitcher has earned the weekly recognition since ECU joined the conference prior to the 2015 season.
Â
Ritchie compiled a 2-1 record and 1.07 earned run average over three appearances in 19.2 innings pitched as East Carolina won four of five games at the Pirate Clash over the weekend. The senior surrendered just three earned runs and recorded 10 strikeouts while tossing two complete games, including a walkoff victory over a Fordham side that is receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll.
Â
Ritchie paces the Pirates thus far this season in a number of categories, including earned run average (3.41), complete games (4), strikeouts (21) and innings pitched (37.0).
Â
East Carolina returns to action this weekend (Feb. 24-26) when it welcomes Virginia, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall and Coppin State to Greenville for the Pirate Invitational.
