ECU Returns To Sunshine State For The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The East Carolina men's golf team returns to the Sunshine State this weekend for The Hayt, which takes place Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,976-yard Sawgrass Country Club.
The Pirates will field a five-man roster of juniors Tim Conover and Jackson Spires, senior Jack Sides along with freshmen Patrick Stephenson and Blake Taylor.
On Friday, ECU goes off the 10th tee at 8:57 a.m. ET in the order of Taylor, Stephenson, Sides, Spires and Conover. The Pirates will be grouped with players from Furman and UAB.
Conover leads the team with a 71.18 strokes per round average and three top-10 finishes. Spires, Taylor and Stephenson Each own scoring averages of 2-over-par with one top-10 finish each.
Joining the Pirates and host and North Florida at The Hayt are Army, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Jacksonville, Louisville, Liberty, Navy, North Texas, Tennessee, UAB, UCF and UCLA.
The field features four teams ranked in the top-50 of the Golfstat rankings: No. 33 Liberty, No. 36 North Florida, No. 45 UCLA and No. 49 UCF.
East Carolina, who is making its third appearance at The Hayt, finished fifth here a year ago.
The Pirates are coming off a 12th-place finish at the Sea Best Invitational (Feb. 6-7) at TPC Sawgrass.
