
ECU Finishes 10th At The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The East Carolina men's golf team concluded the third and final round at The Hayt on Sunday by finishing 10th, shooting a three-day total of 899 (296-294-299).
ECU was led by freshman Patrick Stephenson (69-74-76=219) who finished tied for 14th at 3-over-par on the 6,976-yard, par 72 Sawgrass Country Club course. Fellow freshman Blake Taylor tied for 23rd with three-day total of 5-over- 221 (77-71-73) with junior Tim Conover (75-72-76=223) finishing two strokes behind his rookie teammate tied for 32rd.
Senior Jack Sides finished with 54-hole score of 14-over 230 (76-80-74) and junior Jackson Spires posted a 17-over 233 (76-77-80).
Tournament host North Florida (291-286-294=871) won the tournament at 7-over 871,finishing three strokes ahead of second-place Jacksonville (295-285-294=874). UCF and Campbell tied for third at 11-over followed by Liberty at 14-over to round out the top five.
Army's Peter Kim took individual medalist honors with a 6-under total of 210 (72-68-70), finishing one stroke ahead of UNF's Phillip Knowles and Jacksonville's David Wicks.
The Pirates will return to action March 6-7 at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.
