ECU Finishes 12th At Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.. -- The East Carolina men's golf team finished in 12th-place at the 15-team Sea Best Invitational on Tuesday. The Pirates shot a 54-hole total of 46-over-par 886 (294-294-298) at TPC at Sawgrass.
Second-ranked Florida captured the team crown by a wide margin. The Gators finished with a two-day tally of 4-under 836 (277-275-284), nine strokes ahead of second-place Lipscomb. The Bisons played even with the leaders during the final round, but totaled a 5-over 845 (278-283-274).
Florida's Ryan Orr edged teammate Alejandro Tosti for the individual championship with a 6-under-par 204 (67-66-71). Tosti was two strokes better than Orr Tuesday, but trailed him by three strokes as final round play began. Five additional players finished under-par.
Junior Tim Conover led ECU and tied for 30th at 9-over 219 (76-73-70). Senior Jack Sides total 222 (73-75-74) over three rounds. Freshman Patrick Stephenson finished one stroke behind his teammate at 223 (72-74-77) with classmate Blake Taylor carding a final score of 226 (77-72-77). Junior Jackson Spires completed the tournament with a 54-hole score of 228 (73-75-80).
East Carolina returns to the links Feb. 24-26 at the Sawgrass Country Club and compete in The Hayt.
