Pirates To Face Temple In The American First Round

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Ninth-seeded East Carolina will face eighth-seeded Temple in the First Round of the Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m. (ESPNU / WNCT 107.9 FM) at the XL Center In Hartford, Conn.

The winner of Temple-ECU will move on to play top-seeded SMU in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 10 at noon on ESPN2.
The Pirates split their regular season series against the Owls with both teams winning on their home court.
Temple claimed an 81-62 victory in Philadelphia in January before the Pirates posted a 78-64 win inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Feb. 15, led by 19 points and 13 rebounds from sophomore Kentrell Barkley. Caleb White had 17 points in victory and Andre Washington added 15.
East Carolina is playing in the eight-nine game of The American Basketball Championship for the third consecutive season. As the No. 8 seed the previous two seasons, the Pirates defeated UCF, 81-80, in overtime during the first round of the 2015 tournament at the XL Center and lost to USF, 71-66, in the opening round in Orlando last season.
