
Manns Meet Record Highlights Day One Of Bill Carson Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior thrower Adam Manns set a meet record in the discus and East Carolina won a pair of events Friday as the 2017 Bill Carson Invitational kicked off at the Minges Family Field at Bate Foundation Track & Field Facility.

Heading into the final day of competition, both the men and women hold first place. The men lead Troy 41-27 while the women are ahead of the Trojans 33-25.

Manns recorded a toss of 54.27 meters to win the discus while classmate Lauren Lubarski captured the javelin with a throw of 47.32 meters.

Juniors Mohogany Baker and Galissia Cause captured second and third place in the discus with respective marks of 50.03 and 48.85 meters and Baker also placed second in the hammer, recording a distance of 53.99 meters. Freshman Adam Sadowski snagged second place in the javelin with a mark of 53.49 meters.

Saturday's competition slate kicks off at 11 a.m. EDT with the women's pole vault. The field events begin at 11:30 with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
