GREENVILLE, N.C. - Former Pirate defensive back DeShaun Amos has been added to the New York Giants roster after participating in the team's rookie camp last weekend according to the National Football League organization.
Amos experienced action in 49 contests during his four-year East Carolina career, contributing defensively at three different positions - cornerback, strong safety and nickelback - and on special teams. He was credited with 116 tackles (81 solo), 10 pass breakups and one interception, which was immediately followed by a 100-yard return for a touchdown against Tulsa as a redshirt freshman in 2013.
As a senior team captain in 2016, Amos opened eight of 12 games in the secondary and stood among the unit's top six tacklers with 51 stops. He logged three or more hits on nine occasions, including a personal-best eight in successive outings against Connecticut and Tulsa, and wrapped up his career with a streak of at least one tackle in 21-straight games.
A frequent Dean's List and Honor Roll selection as a student, Amos earned a bachelor's degree in management from ECU in May, 2016.
Rookie free agent announcements which involve former Pirates are released once officially confirmed by their respective NFL teams.
