
Pol Solanellas Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Pol Solanellas of the East Carolina track and field program has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Team, according to an announcement by the organization Thursday. He is now eligible for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.

Solanellas, a graduate student studying communication, owns a 4.0 grade point average. He earned American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team accolades for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years and has been on the Chancellor's List (4.0 GPA) every semester of his collegiate career. Solanellas also served as vice president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee this past school year.

On the track, Solanellas finished fifth in the mile run at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in a time of 4:15.71. He won the 1,000-meter run at the Liberty Invitational in a time of 2:26.66 and took the 1,500m title at the Bill Carson Invitational by crossing the finish line in 4:00.74.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better both as an undergrad and in grad school.
