Behr Joins East Carolina Athletics Marketing Staff, Marks Promoted to Associate Director

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Justin Behr has been named the assistant director of athletics marketing & fan engagement at East Carolina University according to an announcement by assistant athletics director Greg Herring Wednesday.

Behr will join ECU's staff effective July 3 after spending the previous two years at LSU as a marketing and promotions graduate assistant. Â

 "We are excited to welcome Justin to ECU and to Pirate Nation," Herring said. "Justin will be a great addition to our marketing and fan engagement unit given his experiences at various levels of college athletics, including most recently at LSU."
At LSU, Behr coordinated marketing and promotional activities for volleyball, women's basketball, softball and men's basketball. He directed the student marketing efforts for men's basketball that led to a 68 percent increase in student attendance and implemented new group sales plans for men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, baseball and softball.
Prior to his time in Baton Rouge, he was an external affairs intern at the University of Evansville. During his stint with the Purple Aces he created and implemented marketing and sales initiatives for women's soccer, men's soccer and women's basketball. Women's soccer enjoyed a 65 percent increase in season ticket sales and men's soccer single game sales improved 41 percent.
He provided oversight to a staff of 20 students and coordinated and scheduled all mascot appearances.
Behr began his career in college athletics as an athletics marketing associate at Ohio University where he earned undergraduate degrees in business administration in marketing and sports management. Behr completed his master's degree in sports management from LSU in May, 2017.
Additionally, Whitney Marks has been elevated to associate director of marketing & fan engagement. Marks has served on the Pirates' staff since 2013 when she was hired as a graduate assistant. She was promoted to assistant director of marketing & fan engagement on June 1, 2015.
