GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's soccer team lost its second-consecutive match, 4-0, to No. 14 UCF at Johnson Stadium Sunday afternoon. It marks the first time the Pirates have lost back-to-back matches at home since Sept. 30 and Oct. 12, 2016.

The Knights took an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Kayla Adamek scored on a header. Dina Orschmann aided her with the assist with a cross into the box. Adamek scored again in the 19th minute and Orschmann scored less than three minutes later for a 3-0 Knights' lead.

At halftime, the Pirates had not recorded a shot on goal and trailed UCF, 3-0.

Orschmann scored her second goal of the match in the 52nd minute when she went one-on-one with ECU goalkeeper Michelle Newhouse. After 74 minutes of action, Genevieve Ramirez replaced Newhouse in goal after Newhouse surrendered a career-high four goals with two saves.

Donnenwirth's Thoughts
"We tried to change things a little bit because of the players we had out and how we defend but obviously that failed miserably. I think a few people didn't realize what they were supposed to be doing even though I thought they knew in practice. So they played around us pretty easily in the beginning and we just didn't have our mojo today. I don't know what to say. I think we struggled controlling the ball, passing the ball; that was our big thing – let's not give the ball away. It's going to be hot, the team with the ball is going to have it and make the other team work and that was our team goal and we struggled to do that. I give them credit, they're good. When you are playing a good team like that you have to be playing good also."
