Nicole Mealing was named ECU acting head coach on Dec. 26, 2018 and served in that capacity through the remainder of the 2018-19 season. Mealing started the 2018-19 campaign as an assistant coach, making it her third season as assistant coach and her seventh overall as a member of the Pirate staff.
She previously served as the Pirates’ video coordinator from 2012-16, handling film exchange and distribution for the coaching staff.
In addition to her role as the team’s video coordinator, Mealing also played an integral role spearheading the program’s social media visibility, producing newsletters and assisting the coaching staff with material for game preparation.
A 2010 Francis Marion graduate, Mealing played for the Patriots while former ECU head coach Heather Macy was at the helm of the program from 2007-10. She was a member of the 2010 team that posted a 27-5 overall record, led the country in steals per game, ranked second in both scoring offense and assists and held a No. 20 national ranking in the final USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 poll.
