Cecil Heath contributed to the East Carolina Athletic program from 1951 to 1955, by playing both baseball and basketball during his four years at East Carolina.
Heath won eight letters in basketball and baseball and was named all-state in both sports in 1954-55. In baseball, he played second base and was a four-year starter, finishing his career with a .320 batting average.
In basketball, Heath was a three-year starter at guard, leading ECU to a 23-2 mark in the 1953-54 season. He was named team captain team his senior season.
Also, Heath was a member of the ECU Varsity Club for three years. During Heath's career with the Pirates, he was a member of "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities."
