Dave Thomas had an exceptional football career with the Pirates from 1957-60. Thomas started for the Pirates during his junior and senior years and received the Most improved Award in his senior year.
He also served as president of ECU's Letterman's Club in his final year. Thomas graduated from ECU in 1960 with a bachelor's of science in physical education and a minor in social studies.
For 21 years, Thomas was involved in coaching football, basketball and baseball, and enjoyed great success within the programs he guided.
In 1998, he was selected as the Athletic Director of the Year by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
