Jim Bolding, a standout football player at East Carolina, was an honored player at the collegiate level and was also known throughout the country.
A 1975 All-America selection, Bolding set ECU records for interceptions in a game (3 vs. Western Carolina) and in season (10) that year. His 10 interceptions in 1975 led the nation. He finished his career with 22 interceptions.
A three-time Southern Conference player and all-state selection (1974-76), Bolding broke the Southern Conference record for career interceptions and also broke the ECU career record for most punts returned (47).
