Jim Mallory

James Mallory will go down in the East Carolina history books as one of the Pirates' greatest coaches ever.
Mallory served as baseball coach at East Carolina from 1954-62. During his coaching tenure, Mallory had the highest winning percentage in ECU baseball Pirates history with a 161-60 (.729) coaching record. Mallory held the top position until 1990.
In 1961, Mallory led the Pirates to a NAIA Championship, the school's only national baseball championship. Mallory coached many great athletes, including Cecil Heath, who is also a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame.
Mallory became the Dean of Men in 1959 and was the Associate Dean of Students at East Carolina.
