Although he began his career as a walk-on, Jett left ECU as the most decorated punter in school history. For four consecutive years he led the Pirates in punting and graduated holding two of the three best season punting averages in school history. As a member of the 1991 Peach Bowl championship team, he was named second team All-South Independent and received honorable mention All-America honors as a senior. After college he played 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), where he won a pair of Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and '95.
