John W. "Jack" Young was a member of two of East Carolina's most successful football teams ever in 1940 and '41.
In 1940, the Pirates recorded a 5-3 record, the school's first winning season.
Young, a non-scholarship tackle, then played for the 1941 Pirates who finished the season 7-0. Young was a part of the only unbeaten and untied football team in East Carolina history.
