Robert Kingrey was an outstanding diver for the East Carolina Pirates in his three years of competition at the school.
Kingrey won the national (NAIA) diving championship in the one-meter and three-meter diving events in 1960, his first year with East Carolina. He went on to be a three-time All-America selection in 1960, '61 and '62 in both events.
Kingrey was a great competitor and was given the title as team co-captain on the swimming team. Kingrey is a former record holder for three-meter diving with 11 dives tallying 420 points.
