Men's Soccer Falls To Memphis In Overtime, 2-1

With the loss the Pirates fall to 4-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Conference USA. Memphis improves to 7-3-1 overall and 2-3-0 in league play.
Playing in a driving rain storm, the Pirates got on the board first with less than five minutes remaining in the first half. David Rowe found Brian Deutsch inside the 18-yard box and he passed it to Clyde Simms for the game\?s opening goal.
ECU held a 1-0 advantage until the 73:07 mark. Ronnie Nillson came up with a lose ball at the top of the 18-yard box and scored to tie the game at 1-1.
The Tigers outshot ECU by a final count of 24-14 and had 10 more corner kicks than the Pirates, 11-1. ECU goalkeeper R.J. Marvinney kept the Pirates in the contest as he made eight saves, including five in the second half.
The Pirates begin a five-game road swing on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Coastal Carolina. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Conway, S.C.
