"We had a very good, productive and positive first day of practice," said fourth-year Pirate head coach Bill Herrion. "We spent a lot of time teaching today. It was a lot of stopping and starting, which made for a long day. We have several veterans on our team that understand our system, but we also have a lot of new guys that we have to teach."
The Pirates return seven letterwinners and four starters from last season's team that qualified for the Conference USA Tournament after being predicted to finish in last place. Travis Holcomb-Faye is the lone senior on a squad that consists of seven juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen.
ECU will host its first of two preseason exhibition games on Nov. 7 against U.S. Marine Corps. The Pirates home opener is slated for Sunday, Nov. 24 against Ole Miss.
