ECU Spikers Earn Win Over Campbell In Five Games

The Pirates took game one by a score of 30-17, going up 6-0 before the Camels earned their first point of the game. The Pirates went up by 10 on an attack error by Campbell's Stephanie Lejbjuk. The Pirates would eventually go up by 13, winning the first game easily over the young Campbell squad.
In game two, ECU led the game 4-0 before Campbell earned its first point on a kill by Melissa Ziegenfuss. East Carolina would stay up throughout most of the game, being up by as much as seven at one point. The Camels persevered and rallied back to tie the game at 18. Campbell would go on to take game two by a score of 28-30.
Game three started out similar to the first two games with the Pirates taking the early lead. Campbell would rally back sooner however, and the score would remain close throughout the game. East Carolina took its final lead of the game on a service ace by Katie Jannusch, and would go on to win 30-28.
Campbell would win game four, dominating play at the beginning of the game, but winning by a close margin of two points, 30-28.
In game five, ECU again took the early lead, which they would hold on to win the game and the match, earning their sixth "W" on the year.
Sarah Vick led the Pirates with 18 kills. She also had four service aces. Jannusch had six aces on the night, and Erica Wilson had five. Alexis Jones had 14 kills for the Pirates, while Shannon Paton had 11, and Robyn Drewes and Pam Ferris had 10. Wilson had a career high 52 assists, while Johanna Bertini had a career high 18 digs.
The Pirates will be at home again this weekend when they host Tulane and Southern Miss in Conference USA matches. The Pirates host the Golden Eagles on Friday, November 1, and the Green Wave on Saturday, November 2. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m. at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
