Tulane Tops Pirate Volleyball

East Carolina started out well in game one, keeping the score within three points for a majority of the game. Tulane took control of the game around the 20th point, on an attack error on Robyn Drewes. Tulane would go on to score the next three points before ECU could put another tally on the board. The Green Wave held ECU to just 22 points in the game, taking game one by a score of 30-22.
In game two, Tulane took the first two points before the Pirates were able to score on a kill by Alexis Jones. Jones would lead the team in kills with seven on the night. The Pirates would even the score at two, but Tulane would go on to score five more points before East Carolina could answer the call. Down 7-2, the Pirates would score their next point on a kill by Pam Ferris. However, Tulane would be too much for the Pirates, and the Green Wave increased its lead to six. Down by eight, the Pirates earned their final point on a kill by Shannon Paton. Tulane would score the next three to close out the game, winning 30-20.
East Carolina took a four point lead early on in the third game, leading 8-4 before Tulane went on a eight to two scoring rally to take the lead 12-9. Tulane would hold its advantage over the Pirates for the remainder of the game, going away with a 30-21 win.
In addition to Jones, Drewes also had seven kills. Pam Ferris led the team defensively with 10 digs. She also had six kills. Sarah Vick had five kills. East Carolina had 32 kills on the night, and five total team blocks. Both Jessica Vick and Erica Wilson had 14 assists for ECU.
For Tulane, Brittany Hurst led the team with 17 kills. Kelli Dickson had nine digs, and 29 assists.
The Pirates return to action on Tuesday night, November 5, when they host North Carolina A&T. The game is slated for 7 p.m. at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
