Men's Basketball Adds Garth Grindley To Frontcourt
August 15, 2002 | Men's Basketball
Grindley has spent the last two seasons at Monroe College in the Bronx, N.Y. As a sophomore last season, Grindley averaged 10.0 points, six rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He also recorded three double-doubles during the season and helped the Mustangs advance to the championship game of the Region XV Tournament.
"Garth is a very phyical player who possesses a strong upper body," said Herrion. "Due to the unfortunate injury to Jason Herring, we needed to get another body to add more depth to our frontcourt. The two things that I liked about him the most are that he's physical and he competes hard. He really adds depth to our frontcourt."
Grindley was also an outstanding student at Monroe College, carrying a 3.5 grade point average. He has enrolled at ECU and is eligible for competition during the 2002-03 season. Grindley is the fifth member of ECU's recruiting class of 2002 and its third junior college transfer.
