Pirates Conduct Situational Scrimmage in Preparation for Duke
August 24, 2002 | Football
The limited-contact scrimmage pitted ECU's regulars against scout team units in preparation for next Saturday's season opener at Duke (6 p.m.).
The Pirates' offensive and defensive starters looked sharp and in rhythm. The team covered a variety of special situations, including safeties and free kicks, onside kicks, and substitutions.
"Our scout team did not give us a very good look," Head Coach Steve Logan said. "We did get to check on some assignments and our substitutions went pretty well. I thought our varsity players were clued in. We got through all of our situations and that's about all you can get done on that kind of a day."
ECU's regular gameweek practice schedule is in effect, meaning the Pirates will face one practice Sunday afternoon before their usual off-day on Monday.
