ECU Volleyball Falls to Virginia

Paige Davis led the way for Virginia with 12 kills, a .450 hitting percentage, nine digs, two blocks and two service aces. Kiersten Kaufman also reached double figures in kills as she notched a career-best 11. She also added six digs and two blocks. Simona Kuipers continued her hot hitting as she ripped eight kills and had a .412 hitting percentage. She also led the team with four service aces and three blocks. Kristin Chaney registered 33 assists and eight digs, while third-year middle blocker Shannon Boyle contributed seven kills, three blocks and three aces to the Cavalier effort. Third-year rightside hitter Katie Synan also tallied seven kills in the match. Whitney Ashcraft posted a match-high 13 digs, the ninth straight match she has reached double figures in that category.
Sarah Vick and Robyn Drewes led East Carolina with six and five kills, respectively. Johanna Bertini led the Pirates' defensive effort with 11 digs. Drewes was the only member of the East Carolina squad to be named to the all-tournament team.
The Pirates will travel to Raleigh on Tuesday, September 17, when they head out to face North Carolina State. The game is set for 7 p.m.
