Game three was also close, as the Pirates were overcome by just six points, dropping the game 30-24.
For the Pirates, Sarah Vick had 11 kills, leading the team, while Alexis Jones had nine kills and Pam Ferris seven. Erica Wilson led the team with 13 assists and Jessica Vick contributed 12. Ferris also led the team in digs with 10.
Marquette was led in kills by Theresa Coughlin with 14 and Shannon Devine with 13.
"We played three really close games here tonight," said ECU Head Coach Colleen Munson, "but we just couldn't get the job done. We will practice hard this week and get ready for our conference matches against South Florida and UAB coming up next weekend."
The Pirates will be on the road next weekend to play two conference games. ECU will face South Florida on Friday, October 4 at 7 p.m. and UAB on Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m.
