
Volleyball Falls to Marquette

Sophomore outside hitters Erica Wilson and Pam Ferris led ECU. Ferris recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Wilson chipped in 12 kills for the Pirates. Freshman middle blocker Jaime Bevan added a career-high 11 blocks with nine block assists and two solo blocks as ECU outblocked the Golden Eagles, 12-10, but Marquette out-hit the Pirates, .312-.236 putting down 77 kills to ECU's 47 kills.
Freshman setter Heidi Krug added 31 set assists and 10 digs for her first career double-double. The Golden Eagles held a 48-41 advantage in digs.
Marquette senior Ann Lopata capped off a solid weekend with 16 kills, four digs and eight blocks. Lopata, hit .406. Erin Freer added 18 kills for the Golden Eagles. Senior setter Gemma Greer doled out a season-high 61 assists while chipping in seven digs and five blocks for Marquette.
ECU senior Alexis Jones hit .636 finishing with sevenkills on 11 attempts.
The Pirates return home for a three-match home-stand next week. ECU hosts instate rival N.C. State Tuesday at 7 p.m.. ECU returns to Conference USA action next weekend when they host No. 17 Louisville Friday night and Cincinnati Saturday night.
