Sophomore outside hitter Erica Wilson led the Lady Pirates with a team-high 18 kills. Freshman middle blocker Jaime Bevan hit .524 finishing with 13 kills and three block assists. Sophomore libero Johanna Bertini added 12 digs while freshman setter Heidi Krug added 11 digs.
Louisville's Bing Sun recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while Anastasia Yartseva chipped in 12 kills.
Louisville out-hit the Lady Pirates .329-.204 despite the Lady Pirates out-digging the Cardinals, 55-43. Percan hit .429 while Sun had a .400 attack percentage.
The Lady Pirates hit .474 in game one to Louisville's .400 to take the first game. ECU committed only one attacking error. Wilson had five kills after hitting .714. Katie Jannusch and Bevan each had four kills. ECU rallied three times to tie the game in the first 15 points before taking a 19-16 lead on a kill by Jannusch. Jennifer Craven's service ace tied the game, 19-19. ECU retook a 24-20 lead after an attacking error by Sun. Louisville pulled within 28-26 on a Percan kill but Wilson ended the game with a kill down the line giving the Pirates the one-game lead.
Louisville used four blocks and six kills by Percan to take game two, 30-24 and even the match, 1-1. The Cardinals hit .333 while ECU hit .243 in game two. ECU led 9-7 before the Cardinals went on a 10-1 run to take a 17-10 lead. ECU pulled within 17-13 and 24-21 but Yartseva added three kills down the stretch for Louisville to help take the game.
The Cardinals used five blocks and outhit the Lady Pirates .321-.030 in game three taking a 2-1 lead in the match. Yartseva put down four kills in game three to lead Louisville.
ECU only hit .029 in the final game and Louisville blocked the Lady Pirates five times in the fourth and final game. Sun and Percan combined for eight kills in the final game.
Junior setter Jessica Vick ran the ECU offense and finished with 42 set assists. Craven had 50 set assists for the Cardinals. Candace Cogan added 10 digs for Louisville. Senior middle blocker Alexis Jones added eight kills for the Lady Pirates.
ECU returns to action Saturday night when they host No. 25 Cincinnati at 7 p.m. Louisville travels to play Charlotte Saturday.
