Fund Raiser Planned for ECU-UNC Game
10/07/2003
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- That loose change floating around in your pocket, purse, or piggy bank can make a big difference when multiplied by some 45,000-plus.
That's what the East Carolina University Pirate Club is counting on for Saturday's football game when the Pirates host North Carolina's Tar Heels at 3:30 p.m. in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
The Pirate Club is urging fans attending the game to bring their loose change from home and deposit it at specially marked areas at each entry gate. Monies collected will go to establish a fund to provide assistance to ECU student-athletes who face medical emergencies in the future.
A sell-out crowd will be on hand for the game, which will be televised statewide on six different network stations.
Plastic change bags for loose change can be picked up at the ECU Athletics Ticket Office and Pirate Club offices all this week.
