East Carolina will close out exhibition play Thursday night inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum against the Charlotte Stars. The Pirates are looking to accomplish something that they didn't do last season by winning both its exhibition games. ECU split a pair of exhibition games a year ago. ECU has gone 2-0 during the exhibition season twice under Bill Herrion (1999 & 2001).
The Pirates posted a 104-31 victory over the World HoopStars this past Thursday night in Greenville. East Carolina shot 58.4 percent from the floor and six of the nine players that dressed for the game scored double figures led by sophomore Corey Rouse's game-high 20 points. ECU dominated the glass as well, as it out-rebounded the World HoopStars, 55-26. Rouse led all glass cleaners with 15 rebounds, while junior Moussa Badiane yanked 12 boards.
ECU's opponent, Charlotte Stars, is composed of 12 former college players. The most recognizable face on the squad is former Pirate guard and ECU's career assists leader Travis Holcomb-Faye.
Thursday's game is the East Carolina's final tune-up before opening regular season play Saturday, Nov. 22 at home against Campbell.
