COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina's Lou Holtz hired East Carolina offensive coordinator and ex-Clemson assistant Rick Stockstill to coach the Gamecock receivers, as announced on Thursday by USC.
Stockstill, who spent 14 years with four Clemson head coaches from 1989-2002 until becoming East Carolina's offensive coordinator this past season, replaces Charlie Williams, who left earlier this month for a spot at Arizona.
"I wish Rick well," ECU head coach John Thompson said Thursday evening. "We have a good plan in place for finding both an offensive coordinator and offensive line coach and may have some new people on board very soon. Meanwhile, we are moving forward and are recruiting some very good players."
