Tight end Josh Coffman, punter Ryan Dougherty and cornerback Erode Jean were selected to the squad which is chosen by the league's 11 head coaches and media members in each conference city.
Coffman, a true freshman from Palmetto, Fla., played in eight games and made three starts this past season. He caught four passes for 58 yards, including a long of 23. Coffman had receptions against West Virginia, Cincinnati, USF and Southern Miss.
Not only was Dougherty, a redshirt freshman from Orlando, an All-Conference USA Freshman Team selection, he was the only freshman to be named first team all-conference after leading the league in punting with a 44.5 yard average. He pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line with 15 of his 64 punts.
Jean, a true freshman defensive back from Ft. Pierce, Fla., led East Carolina in pass breakups with nine and finished sixth on the team in total tackles with 50. He was one of the Pirates' top defenders playmakers with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, including a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown against Southern Miss.
