
DePaul Women Run Past ECU, 105-70

CHICAGO -- DePaul drained 14 three-point field goals en route to a 105-70 win over East Carolina in Conference USA women's basketball action on Sunday at the DePaul Athletic Center.
The Blue Demons (19-7, 8-3) nearly matched their school-record of 15 three-point field goals in a game.
DePaul's first four field goals were from long-range as they sprinted to a 17-8 lead over the first five minutes. Ashley Luke hit a pair of three's in the run and knocked down two free throws.
The Blue Demons built a 20-point lead at 7:35 on a lay-up by Khara Smith. In the first stanza, DePaul shot .655 from the field and were 10-of-16 from behind the arc. They outrebounded East Carolina (10-13, 2-8), 19-14, and Luke, Jenni Dant and Sarah Kustok all reached double-figures.
The halftime lead of 25 points would be as close as East Carolina would and DePaul increased the advantage to 40 points late in the contest. Casmir Patterson's lay-up with 37 second left in the game put the Blue Demons up, 105-65.
Five players finished the game in double-figures and were led by Luke's 19 points. She also added six rebounds and five assists while Dant scored 18 points. Kustok added 17 and Khara Smith scored 16 points. Charlene Smith added 11 points, five assists and five rebounds. For the game, the Blue Demons dished out 22 assists on their 37 field goals.
Courtney Willis led three Lady Pirates in double-figures with 17 points and eight rebounds. She was joined by Tali Robich with 14 and Jennifer Jackson with 13 points.
The Lady Pirates are in the midst of a four-game stretch of road games. ECU travels to UAB next Friday night (8 p.m. ET) and finishes off its regular season road schedule at South Florida next Sunday.
