GREENVILLE, N.C. -- After suffering a five-point setback to Charlotte at home on Saturday night, East Carolina will look to reverse its recent fortunes against the Cincinnati Bearcats in a Conference USA match-up Wednesday night at 8:05 p.m.
East Carolina (12-12, 3-10), will be looking to break out of its current three-game slump after falling to the 49ers, 71-66, at home on Saturday. The loss was just the Pirates' second of the season in a game decided by single digits (6-2). The other was to Cincinnati, 59-53. Derrick Wiley and Belton Rivers scored 15 points each, while Erroyl Bing recorded double-digit rebounds for a fourth consecutive game and finished the game with his 18th career double-double (12 points and 13 rebounds). However, it wasn't enough to overcome 10 49er three-pointers.
Cincinnati (15-8, 7-5) stunned No.3/4 Louisville on Saturday, 101-80. Tony Bobbitt led all scorers with 25 points, connecting on 8-of-15 shots from the floor and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Kareem Johnson and Field Williams scored 10 points each for the Bearcats, who scored a school-record 42 points at the free throw line.
Cincinnati, which has never lost to East Carolina, extended its lead in the all-time series to 4-0 with a 59-53 win over the Pirates at Minges Coliseum in the season's first meeting on Jan. 22.
