
ECU Women to Host Louisville Friday

FRIDAY'S MATCH-UP
This Friday, February 7, the Lady Pirates will host Louisville in a Conference USA
match-up. It will be the second all-time meeting between the two teams. Louisville leads the
series 1-0. The game will be played at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Tip-off is set for
7 p.m.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
Jennifer Jackson leads the Pirates with an
average of 16.8 points per game. Courtney
Willis is close behind, averaging 14.5 points
of her own. They are the only two women to
average double-figure points for the Lady
Pirates. Tali Robich is averaging 9.6 points
per game in the third place position.
Jackson also leads the team in boards with 7.7 boards per outing. Willis is averaging 7.2 boards, and Tali Robich 5.2.
The Lady Pirates have nine wins on the year, with an overall record of 9-10. The nine wins is three more total wins than all of last season.
ECU has competed in three in-season tournaments this year. The Pirates were the champions of the U.S. Cellular Classic at East Carolina, and were runners-up in the UNCG Marriott Classic and the Atlanta NW Marriott Classic.
The Pirates are shooting 42.1 percent from the field this season, and 69.4 percent from the free throw line.
In 12 of the Pirates' 19 games this season, three or more players have posted doublefigure points. Against Memphis, five players scored in double-figures, marking the first time in over four years that feat has been accomplished.
In the games against Bethune-Cookman and Alabama, every participating player scored at least two points. Against Bethune- Cookman, North Carolina A&T, and Campbell, every participating player had at least one rebound.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville is currently 14-6 and 5-2 in
Conference USA, putting them in a tie for
fourth place in the league.
The Cardinals are currently on a threegame winning streak, having pulled out wins over South Florida, Tulane and Southern Miss in those games. The Cardinals' two conference losses came to Cincinnati to open up conference play and then to UAB on January 24.
The Cardinals' longest winning streak this season is six games, which began on December 22 with a win over Eastern Illinois and was concluded on January 11 with the Cincinnati loss.
The Cardinals are led in scoring by Lori Nero, averaging 17.1 points per game. She is followed by Sara Nord and Amanda Wolke, averaging 14.8 and 10.7 points per game respectively.
Nero also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down an average of 9.7 boards per outing, good enough for second best in Conference USA.
As a team, the Cardinals are shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 67.1 percent from the free throw line. They are outscoring their opponents by 10.2 points and outrebounding their opponents by 3.2 rebounds.
