ECU Puts On The Pads For First Time
March 21, 2003 | Football
"It was real slippery, muddy, and sloppy in every regard," said first-year Pirate head coach John Thompson. "We've got guys that are trying hard and trying to absorb a lot of information. We're throwing out a lot of football out on both sides."
ECU will hold its first scrimmage of the spring Saturday, at 9:15 a.m., at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Thompson is hoping to see his team show some resolve.
"We had a tough hard practice today and now we've got to come back in less than 15 hours and be a lot more physical with a lot more live action. I'm looking to see how we compete and who'll be tough tomorrow morning.
The Pirates will practice four times a week over the next three weeks with spring practice culminating on April 12 with Purple-Gold game.
