
Volleyball Adds Three To Roster

Daly, from Darien, Ill., will serve as a libero this fall. She attended Downers Grove South High School, where she was a member of the 2002 AA state championship team. She was named an all-conference player in 2002, and in 2001, her high school team made it to the AA elite eight. Daly spent nine years on the Sports Performance Volleyball Club, one of the top national volleyball clubs, and was a national qualifier in 2002.
Howell is a transfer student from Pitt Community College (PCC). At 6'2", she will join the team as a middle blocker. A native of Pikeville, N.C., Howell helped Aycock High School to a Class 3A state championship in 1998. She was named all-conference that year and in the 1999 season, she was the Big Eight Conference Player of the Year. Howell has spent the last two seasons at PCC, where she played the position of middle hitter. She helped PCC to a conference championship in both of those seasons, and was named the Region X Tournament MVP in 2001.
Parker hails from Greenville, N.C., where she was a standout player at Rose High School. She was named team captain for the 2002-03 season and was all-conference for the Big East. While at Rose High, Parker helped the Rampants to two conference championships and the North Carolina state playoffs in 2000-01. She was a member of the Carolina Region High Performance Team in 2001 and 2002. At 5'10", Parker will serve as an outside hitter for the Pirates.
"We are very excited to have these three young ladies join our program for the fall," said Munson. "We are looking forward to a successful year in 2003 and have no doubt these ladies will contribute to that success."
East Carolina will open up its 2003 season on August 29 when it will host the East Carolina tournament. The Pirates will first face UNC Greensboro beginning at 7 p.m.
