Pirates Head West For Final Pregame Preparations
September 18, 2003 | Football
Through the efforts of university officials from both ECU and Elon, the Pirates were able to practice on the Elon campus Thursday afternoon. Driving winds and rains forced ECU to practice indoors, inside a pair of auxiliary gymnasiums, where they worked out for approximately one and one-half hours.
"We are so appreciative of the people at Elon for allowing us to come here and use their facilities," said Pirate head coach John Thompson. "Its tough practicing inside a gym, but we had a good practice today and got a lot accomplished."
At the conclusion of practice, the Pirates headed to its road headquarters in Greensboro, where they will remain until game time Saturday evening. ECU is scheduled to send a pair of groups out into part of the Triad community Friday morning with one group visiting a local children's hospital and another reading to students at an elementary school before holding its normal Friday afternoon walk-through at Groves Stadium.
ECU and Wake Forest are scheduled to kick-off Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.
