GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Conference USA announced today that Meghan McCallion (Long Island, N.Y.) has been chosen as C-USA Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
McCallion, a sophomore forward for ECU, scored three goals on 19 shots and collected the game-winning goal in the Pirates' (1-1) opening weekend of play. She shares the C-USA honor with Jessica Traver of Tulane University.
Friday's season opener against then-No. 9 Texas Longhorns saw McCallion score the Pirates' first two goals of the season in a neutral site match at SAS Stadium, in Cary, N.C. McCallion took six shots on goal in a 5-3 loss.
In Sunday's win over Liberty, McCallion scored the game-winning goal in an ECU 2-0 shutout.
"I think that Meghan had a great weekend and this award shows it," said ECU head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "She's definitely a hand full for any team we play against. Teams are going to know who she is and will be watching her closely."
The Lady Pirates are on the road for their next three matches before returning home to Bunting Field on Sept. 14., when they host Western Carolina at 1 p.m.
