
Volleyball Knocks Off BSC

ECU (5-0) remains perfect on the young season. Junior outside hitter Sarah Vick added 11 kills. ECU's defense out-dug BSC 70-63. Katie Jannusch had nine kills and 11 digs while Jessica Vick and Heidi Krug each added 10 digs. Jessica Vick also recorded 36 set assists. ECU hit .206 and had seven blocks. Bevan had four blocks in the match.
Cassie Reed and Danielle Graff each recorded 10 kills to pace the Panthers. The Pirates had 14 service aces in the match led by Erica Wilson's four aces. Wilson chipped in seven kills for the Pirates while Alexis Jones added six kills.
Furman junior Julia Fredrickson (Dallas, Texas) tallied a team-high 12 kills to lead the Lady Paladins, while Caitlin White totaled nine and Amber Montague added seven. Gardner-Webb was paced by Maggie Cornwall's 15 kills and eight digs. In addition, setter Carrie Brinkley totaled 23 assists and Sara Alford served up three aces.
Action continues in the Invitational on Saturday, ECU takes on Gardner-Webb at 11 a.m. The Pirates close out the tournament Saturday evening at 6 p.m. against Furman.
