Levesque, a product of Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, has signed scholarship papers and is enrolled in spring semester classes at ECU.
"[Assistant coach] Art Kaufman did a lot of digging and came up with a big-time tight end for us," ECU head coach John Thompson said. "We feel very fortunate to have Shawn Levesque coming here. He will add another dimension to our offense."
With a reputation as a solid blocker who can also catch the football, Levesque was a junior college preseason All-America honorable mention. He helped Kilgore to a 6-4 record and a berth in the junior college playoffs. He also was named to the 2003 J.C. Grid-Wire Scholar-Athlete All-America Team.
Levesque, a native of League City, Texas, is the fourth junior college product to commit to ECU in recent weeks. Tight end Willie Metcalf (6-7, 260) and safety Zack Baker, both from Pima College in Tucson, Ariz., and offensive tackle Joel Renaud fom Reedley (Calif.) College made their commitments official in late December.
