
Lawhorn Earns Second Preseason Honor

Lawhorn was named second-team All-Conference USA in 2003 after hitting .332 with 15 doubles, 14 home runs, 49 RBI and 49 runs scored. He also was named to the 2003 C-USA All-Tournament team.
Lawhorn was also named second-team preseason All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America in December.
He was named NCBWA first-team preseason All-America in 2003 after being named the 2002 C-USA Freshman of the Year and Co-National Freshman of the Year by Collegiate Baseball.
In 2004, Lawhorn moves back to the outfield after spending 2003 in the infield. He will be joined this season by his twin brother, Trevor, who transferred to East Carolina from Barton College and sat out the 2003 season.
Second-year head coach Randy Mazey and the Pirates open the 2004 season at home against UNC Asheville on Feb. 13.
