
Pirate Baseball Adds Transfer for 2004 Season

Taylor, a 6-2, 225 pound left-handed pitcher, originally signed with the University of North Carolina for the 2004 season, but has found a home at ECU. In two seasons at Louisburg, Taylor compiled a 21-2 record on the mound including a perfect 10-0 season last season as a sophomore. He finished the 2003 campaign with a 2.75 ERA including 99 strikeouts in 78.2 innings whilie only walking 10. He also recorded three saves and pitched seven complete games.
As a freshman for the Hurricanes, Taylor went 11-2 on the mound in leading Louisburg to the Junior College World Series. He posted a 2.01 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 85 innings while only walking 14 batters. He also added one save and pitched six complete games.
ECU opens up the season Feb. 13 when it hosts UNC Asheville for a three-game nonconference series.
