
Men's Hoops Suffers Tough Defeat At Houston

HOUSTON (AP) -- Anwar Ferguson blocked a jump shot by Derrick Wiley with three seconds left and Houston held on for a 55-53 win over East Carolina on Saturday night.
Ferguson got the ball after his fourth block of the game, securing the win for Houston (7-7, 1-3 Conference USA).
East Carolina (8-6, 0-4) closed within 54-53 with about two minutes to play on Luke Mackay's two free throws.
But Marcus Oliver made a free throw to extend the Houston lead to 55-53 in the final minute before Wiley was able to attempt his final shot from 18 feet.
Andre Owens scored 21 points to lead Houston. Ferguson and Oliver each added nine points.
Mackay went 4-of-6 on 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for East Carolina, and Wiley had 10 points. Moussa Badiane had 13 rebounds for the Pirates.
