Rimpf Set to Play in Senior Bowl
January 22, 2004 | Football
The game will be televised by ESPN.
Rimpf, 6-6, 324-pound native of Raleigh, N.C., will play for the North team. The North will be coached by Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis and his staff.
Rimpf is a three-time first team All-Conference USA selection and has been the leader of an ECU offensive line that has paved the way for three consecutive 1,000-yard rushers. He was rated as the No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by The Sporting News prior to his senior season. He is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District pick.
Considered football's premier pre-draft event, the Senior Bowl features 95 of America's top senior NFL draft prospects and will be attended by over 700 National Football League general managers, head coaches, scouts, and other front office personnel. It is the only contest in the nation which features the top NFL draft prospects on teams coached by the entire coaching staffs of two NFL teams. San Diego Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer and his staff are coaching the South squad.
Rimpf is the fourth Pirate to appear in a postseason all-star game this winter. Fullback Vonta Leach, defensive tackle Damane Duckett, and wide receiver Terrance Copper all played in the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic this past Christmas Day.
